DR. MARIA MADELINE BAYLON-MALLILLIN, is a psychiatrist and a medical acupuncturist practicing in the Philippines. She is currently the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry of Asian Hospital and Medical Center, part of the Supportive and Integrative Services of Asian Cancer Institute, and Head of Psycho-oncology Service of the Cancer Institute of St. Luke’s Medical Center-Global City.
Dr. Mallillin has been drawn to cancer patients and their families even during her residency training in Psychiatry. Hence, she decided to do a Clinical Observer-ship in Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center after finishing her fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine of the University of the Philippines. She dedicated most of her time in psych-oncology work when she returned to the Philippines in 2006. She has been doing clinical work, lectures and trainings, as well as advocacy programs in the field of psycho-oncology since. Dr. Mallillin has been an IPOS member since 2006. She is currently a part of the IPOS Palliative Care SIG and the Education SIG and believes that by educating the community and creating awareness, cancer care and services, especially psycho-social services, can be improved and be brought to areas that are difficult to access.
Aside from her work in the medical field, Dr. Mallillin loves to knit and travel with her family and friends. She is a foodie and loves to try delicacies in different parts of her country and the world.
Currently a student of Psychology, Adrian Pogacian has a PhD in History. He is interested in developing the Psycho-Oncology field of research in Romania, as well as in Eastern Europe. He launched ReThinking Cancer, a regional non-profit, non-partisan and politically independent think tank, based in Tîrgu-Mureş, Romania. ReThinking Cancer's work focuses on the following topics: Psycho-Oncology and Health Security.
Adrian Pogacian’s fields of interests are: Fear of Cancer Recurrence, Social Acceptance of Cancer Patients and Educational Psychology.

The e-health and survivors Special Interest Groups (SIG) of IPOS are organizing this webinar hosted by the Co-Chairs of the IPOS e-health SIG, Tania Estapé and Claire Foster. It aims to bring together the international community of researchers and clinicians interested in remote delivery of physical activity, diet and psychological support to people affected by cancer. It is also to encourage discussions and collaborations across the globe. This webinar will be of interest to both clinicians and researchers who want to know more about supporting lifestyle change and psychological support in people living with cancer from a distance.

Prof Gabriella Pravettoni received her PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Pavia (Italy) in 1996 and subsequently completed her specialization in Psychotherapy at the Associazione per lo Sviluppo Psicologico dell’Individuo e della Comunità –ASPIC (Rome).
She is currently Full Professor of General Psychology at the Medical Faculty (Dept. Of Oncology and Haemato-oncology) at the University of Milan, Director of the Psychoncology Division and Director of the No Smoking Center at the European Institute of Oncology (EIO) in Milan, where she leads a team of 32 psychologists whose mission is to give support to oncological patients, their families and caregivers.
She is Coordinator of Psychology training and development at LILT Nazionale, Italian Cancer League, Coordinator of Doctorate in Medical Humanities (Foundations of the life Sciences and their ethical consequences) at SEMM (European School of Molecular Medicine), Milan.
She is also Past Director of the Medical Faculty (Dept. Of Oncology and Haemato-oncology) at the University of Milan.
She is the Principal investigator of 3 European projects and member of the Editorial Board of several Scientific Journals.
She has published more than 250 peer-reviewed articles and is the main author/co-author of 50 books.
Her research activities are almost entirely conducted at the EIO, at both national and international level, with focus on cognitive processes, decision-making and error prevention, with particular attention to the medical field, medical humanities, health, and centrality of patient.
The Division of Pediatric Psychosocial Oncology, within the Department of Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Boston Children’s Hospital, seeks applications for a full-time academic pediatric psychologist.
This exciting position provides opportunities for direct clinical service, teaching, program development, and/or research. Responsibilities include care of on-treatment pediatric oncology patients and their families in both inpatient and outpatient settings at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Children’s Hospital with a focus in Neuro-oncology. The role includes teaching post-doctoral psychology fellows, oncology clinicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary pediatric oncology team. Opportunities to focus academic effort and growth are available in education, research, or quality improvement, and intensive mentorship in each of these areas is available.
All applicants must hold a Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA-accredited doctoral program and preferably have completed an APA-accredited internship. Graduate, research and internship training experience with children and families affected by childhood cancer, and Post-doctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Psychology is highly valued. A demonstrated commitment to education and/or the ability/potential to pursue research funding is desirable. Bi-lingual competency in Spanish also valued.
Academic appointment and compensation will be consistent with experience and Hospital policies; Harvard Medical School appointments will be through Boston Children’s Hospital Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and will likely be at either the Instructor or Assistant Professor level. I am a Senior Clinical Psychologist who has been working in cancer care for over a decade. I started my ‘cancer’ career working with CanTeen Australia, and started working in the Psycho-Oncology Service at RPA Hospital in 2009. Chris O’Brien Lifehouse opened in since 2013, and I transitioned across. In my current role I wear a couple of hats! I am the Allied Health Manager looking after 30 clinical staff across all Allied Health Disciplines, but also continue to have a clinical case load. I also teach in the University of Melbourne (Cancer care in young people) and the University of Sydney Cancer Nursing Program. My interest areas are specifically in AYA cancer care, and working with people at the end of life. I am involved in several research projects and teams, across both AYA and adult psycho-oncology. I have been an active participant in IPOS over the years, and was honoured to run a workshop in Banff in 2019 on the role of ACT in caring for AYAs. I am looking forward to hopefully making my way back to Canada for IPOS2022! I am really loving the networks of clinician’s that span the globe, and the expertise that is shared around during and between events.
The last couple of years I have done some writing about the use of ACT in cancer care and have a couple of books out (Cancer, Sex, Drugs and Death, 2017 – For Health Professionals and The Cancer Companion, 2021 – For patients). Lauren Heathcote, Ph.D., is the IPOS Early Career Director and Deputy Chair of the IPOS FORwards SIG. She recently completed a 5-year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine in the U.S. and is now a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) of Health Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience at King’s College London in the U.K.
Her research focuses on understanding what drives quality-of-life outcomes such as fear of cancer recurrence and symptom burden (e.g., pain, fatigue) in childhood and adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors, and using these findings to develop novel, mechanistically-precise interventions. She has published over 65 papers in peer-reviewed journals such as The Lancet Oncology, JAMA Oncology, and Psycho-Oncology.
As a members of IPOS Editorial Board, Lauren is dedicated to supporting our early career psycho-oncology community through training, mentorship, and collaboration.
MEMORIAL SLOAN KETTERING (MSK) CANCER CENTER invites applications for a full-time psychologist position in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. This faculty position will focus primarily on clinical care and will also have opportunities for teaching and conducting collaborative research. This position will provide psychological care at two of MSK’s regional sites, with an in-person presence one day a week at MSK Basking Ridge and MSK Monmouth. The position will also provide care to patients at MSK Manhattan and will be a mix of in-person and telehealth. The candidates should have clinical experience and appropriate training in working with adult cancer patients and their families. This position will work with cancer patients, and their families and caregivers, with a variety of cancer diagnoses and cancer stages. This full-time position provides a unique opportunity for a blend of patient care, program development, and collaborative research.
